Challenge #10 What do I want leaders to do with Technology?
I think I would invite those who know to teach those who want to know. Those who don’t want to know may get left behind as technology is so prevalent in our lives right now. I like the fact that people are saying that it is only a tool. The tool must be used and taught to use effectively though. How this can all be done is through collaboration. I have seen a variety of teachers share their knowledge on a daily basis. The key is sharing. If we take what we learned in Kindergarten and use it to develop this ever growing technological world it can only benefit everyone. ‘ It requires a dynamic combination of mindset, behaviors, and skills that are employed to change and/or enhance school culture through the assistance of technology.’ This quote is from the article Pillars of Digital Leadership. It resonates with me because that is what is needed to make it happen, Mindset(whether growth or innovative) is something that is allowing the technology to get into our way of teaching. Which hopefully will change the behaviour of how we deal with technology. I know my behaviour has changed. So much to learn but to find the time. The quote talks about enhancing school culture which as a leader I must constantly be trying to do. This can be done with the ‘assistance of technology’ not only technology. I feel it is a reason to connect people and to teach people. My main philosophy of education is that we can learn from everyone. To use a direct quote from George Couros’ blog. ‘Never hold a learner back based on what you don’t know.’ So if we can share, collaborate, admit when we don’t know, we can learn.
